"Each aspect of the thing which falls to our perception is still only an invitation to perceive beyond it. If the thing itself were reached, it would be arrayed before us and stripped of its mystery."

about

Willem du Gardijn, born in 1964, lives in The Netherlands. He teaches cultural history, he writes novels and short stories (willemdugardijn.nl), at night he walks the streets with his faithful camera.

Knowing that street photography continuously breaches the boundaries between public and private, I apologize to everyone who feels offended by any content of my photos. I admit to doing my work with eagerness, like a hoodlum now and then. To the offended and to those who have supported me, I send my deepest loving thanks. Life is full of secrets, important ones I want to preserve, not undo.
